Hello!
I am having trouble connecting to my Holux 245.
In BT747, I have set the device to Holux GR-245, speed to 38400 and port to /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART (cat'ing this port shows data such as:
?%B?BJJrcBH?BkH?R)!?BbCˈ??F?B?u?ޞgb?CC??
Clicking the connect button produces no action. The options in the Device setting remain disabled (greyed out).
I would be grateful for any advice.
Cheers
David

Make sure that the connection speed is correct. I think that you did not set the correct speed.

Cheers, thanks for your reply.
I have tried a number of different speeds. 38400 was listed as the speed for the 245 on the page: http://www.bt747.org/compatible_gps.
Still having no luck ;-(

Can you see the 'current
Can you see the 'current position' at 38400?
If you mean in the speed
If you mean in the speed drop-down near the connect button then yes, it's set at 38400
No, that is not what I mean.
No, that is not what I mean. In the main screen, upper right section, there is the Position Subpanel where the latitude, longitude, etc. should appear.
If any of these fields is filled with a sensible value, then you have a incoming connection at least and you know that it is set at the right speed.
If not all the fields are filled, then this is because the device does not receive what BT747 is sending.
The latitude and longitude concern data that does not need to be requested: it is sent continuously.
The other data has to be requested.
Hi Again, I'm afraid nothing
Hi Again,
I'm afraid nothing shows up in the 'GPS Device Data' section - all fields disabled.

I have the same problem as djw. All the GPS device data fields are unknown and the connect button has no effect. The Baud rate is set to 38400 and the device is set to Holux Sport 245. Is there a solution?
Many thanks Larry

I have the same problem.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Can/did you try version
Can/did you try version 2.X.1864 - port naming seems to have change a bit on mac and that has been taken into account in that version (but not confirmed yet by the user that helped me identify that issue).
You can use the java webstart version or http://soft.bt747.org/BT747_2.X.1864_full.zip .
What do you see in the 'info' tab - please activate 'debug' before connecting to get more info.
