Export only last NMEA data record

Hi,

I want to know if there is a way to export the last NMEA data record into a text file or into clipboard.

I need this data record for an entry in my sailing logbook.

Who can help me?

Hi Currently you have to

Hi

Currently you have to export the selected part of the log to an NMEA file.
You can limit the exported records by date, ..., and in your case by the record number.

Not using NMEA (for your logbook), you can also convert and select (part of) the last line in the track table.  Then 'CTRL-C' under windows and 'CTRL-V' where you can to paste it.

Anything else is possible but requires a specific development and I think that copying the last line of a log to the clipboard or a file is quite specific.

Does that seem ok for you?

I don't understand exactly what you mean. How do I get the last line in the track table?

As in the enclosed

As in the enclosed attachment, select some fields.

Then use the usual copy method (CTRL-C / CTRL-INS).

Then use the usual paste method (CTRL-V/ SHIFT-INS).

And get this:

221 08-JUL-10 21:43:14 T TimeStamp -37.80892637655896 145.02885120837462 47.347443 0.0

If I understand correct, the

If I understand correct, the only way to get the position is to download the logger file to my computer, open the file in a text editor and than copy and paste the datas from the last record, correct?

This is not applicable for my logbook solution. I need a method to get the data from last record that the computer can do itself.

Can't this be done in the navigation mode of the logger? Is there an option to readout this data with your software?

If not do you know a software (for Mac) which can so this?  (Sorry, but my English is not so good).

Hi Almzte I thought that you

Hi Almzte

I thought that you needed the last logged position.

You can fetch the current position from the device without resorting to the log using the standard NMEA protocol.

BT747 shows the current position on the main tab and gets that position like that.

I do not know what environment your logbook application is in, but using BT747 just to get the current position looks like an overkill.  You just have to open the port, read the NMEA data, decode it and you have a position.  No logger is needed - just a live signal.
