This can be done if I know

This can be done if I know how to indicate an icon for a command.

For the webstart distribution this should normally be the case, but it seems that for most people the java settings are limiting too much.

I do not have a mac, but from this page  (http://macdevelopertips.com/category/java) one can see that the Java configuration can be opened from /Applications/Utilities/Java/Java%20Preferences.app .

There the 'Advanced' Tab should have an entry related to shortcut creation.  You should set the autorisation level to something more permissive than 'Never autorise'.

I guess that should do the job.

If you have any success and/or snapshot, you can share it here.
