problem rendering tracks in google earth IDX: 1 IDX: 2 ......

Hello,

I'm having problems with the track points in google earth.  I'll download the data from the logger, convert them to .kml, but when I open google earth and open the file the track points show up as IDX: 1, IDX:2, ....

I have a feeling this is a noob question, but I've searched and read the threads here and on the net using search engines to no prevail.

Will respond very promptly to responces.

Thanks!

I think it's about how I'm

I think it's about how I'm converting the files, or something is wrong with the data my logger is collecting.  The track points just show up as IDX: 1, ect, with no track point info.

I've set the device settings to different configurations as well as the file output settings.

If you need any other info about what I'm running hardware or software just let me know.

That was me.  Forgot to

That was me.  Forgot to login. Still can't figure it out.

Hi tylor What are the fields

Hi tylor

What are the fields that you are recording (log format)?

Obviously only the data that you record can be provided in the outputfile.

What are the fields that you have selected for writing to the output file ?

Only the selected fields are written to the output file.

What is the trackpoint filter / waypoint filter?

Typically the waypoint filter is set to 'button' only.  Also select the other (RCR) fields for the waypoint filter (Time, Distance, Speed).

I have everything selected

I have everything selected right now except the common filter.  I have fresh data, let me take a look to see if there is anything different.  Thanks for pointing me in a direction.

Same problem.  I've been

Same problem.  I've been messing with those settings for a while which is why I was scratching my cranium.  I'm trying to install this and get it working on a windows vista os.  After this on a macbook, then on a blackberry.

Hi You can send me the '.bin'

Hi

You can send me the '.bin' file, indicating the device you are you and I'll tell you what you are logging (my mail is in the 'About' of the application).

Make sure that you tick everything in "Output Settings"/"File Output Fields and Items" - including "Add Track Point Info" and "Add Track Point Name".

Also open the output file (gpx, kml) in a text editor to look if you find what you are looking for in the text data.  If you do, then it is more a question of how you use Google Earth for instance.

ok.  Hold on, I might have

Hi Tylor

The extract of the Kml is just the 'header' of the KML, not really the data you logged.  Your data is further below where you see latitudes and longitudes.

I know, but I'm not getting any log data and the header is super long.  Anyway, I'm sending the .bin via e-mail.
